The journey begins at 6:00 am from Prince Chowk, Dehradun, with a scenic 5-6 hour drive to Pantwari Village at an altitude of 4,650 ft. The drive follows a route through the picturesque town of Mussoorie, known as the “Queen of Hills,” and passes the popular Kempty Falls. The Yamuna River runs alongside until we reach Nainbagh, from where we take the road to Nag Tibba, arriving at Pantwari by noon. A light breakfast stop is made en route, and Mussoorie is the last point with an available ATM.Upon arrival in Pantwari, a hearty lunch is served. After some rest, the trek begins at the end of a motorable road. The trail starts on a cemented path that transitions into a rocky route. The first water point is encountered after about 15 minutes—an ideal place to refill water bottles. As the trek progresses, a small village with thatched-roof huts and terraced farmlands appears, offering stunning views of Pantwari below. During the harvest season, the fields glow with varying shades of green and yellow. Shortly before reaching the ridge connecting Pantwari and Nag Tibba, you will pass the ‘Goat Village,’ an eco-tourism initiative. The path then winds through a dense patch of oak and rhododendron trees, where the ascent becomes gentler. A notable landmark on this stretch is an isolated hut near farmland, signaling that the campsite is just a 5-minute walk away. The campsite itself is a small clearing with a forest backdrop and an expansive view in front. Watching clouds rise from the depths below the campsite is a breathtaking sight.
The day begins early, as we have a long day ahead. After a quick breakfast, finishing by 5:00 am, we will begin our hike to the summit. The trail starts to the right of the campsite, leading through thick forest cover. During the winter, the path may be snow-covered, making it slightly challenging to spot, although the trail is generally well-marked. Within 20-30 minutes of walking, you’ll reach two open patches—clearings on the forest edge. From here, the trek becomes a relatively level walk with gentle undulations. The Nag Tibba temple, located at the base of Nag Tibba hill, is found on the third clearing along the trail. On a clear day, you can enjoy views of the Garhwal Himalayas from this point. The trek continues into the forest on a steep incline, which can be snow-covered in winter, adding to the challenge. This section of the trek is more demanding and sets the stage for an exhilarating summit experience. As you approach the summit, the trail curves around a ridge before leading to the flag marking the Nag Tibba Jhandi, or summit. One option for descending is the trail that leads to Devalsari village, visible on the opposite side of the mountain. The summit offers breathtaking views, including the stunning ice-capped peaks of Bandarpoonch, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Kala Nag, and other majestic mountains of the Garhwal Himalayas. If the trek progresses according to schedule, you’ll have some time to enjoy the views at the top before descending via the same route. Lunch will be served back at the campsite. We will then make our way back to Pantwari, aiming to reach by sundown. A 5-6 hour drive will take us from Pantwari to Dehradun, where you can arrange an overnight journey. If you enjoyed this two-day weekend trek, consider exploring ourBinsar trek for another adventure.

Such circumstances include continuous rain or snow, thunderstorms, snowstorms, landslides, floods, earthquakes, or any other natural calamity that poses a risk to the safety of our trekkers. Unforeseeable events such as local riots, curfews, pandemics, lockdowns, government orders, or similar situations that could compromise the safety of the trekking experience may also necessitate a cancellation.

The trek leader may decide to send you down from the trek due to factors such as insufficient fitness level, symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), high blood pressure, exceeding the designated turn-around time, health concerns, or violations of trek rules (e.g., smoking or drinking). In such cases, a voucher will not be provided.
In the rare event that LET’S GO UbEx shifts a trek:
Weather conditions in high-altitude areas are highly unpredictable and can change suddenly, regardless of the day. Situations beyond our control, such as natural disasters, political unrest, pandemics, or lockdowns, may impact the feasibility of conducting a trek. If an event cannot proceed due to such uncontrollable circumstances, LET’S GO UbEx will make every effort to offer a safer, more suitable alternative trek.
In such cases, a voucher will be issued to offset any cost difference between the original and alternative treks. This voucher can be redeemed within one year from the date of issue. Please note that refunds or reimbursements of cost differences are not applicable in these instances.
